Miles Davis is teaching three art related courses this spring starting in April. In the courses, Miles provides instruction for a variety of skills and levels of experience including beginning character drawing for sequential art to art business. Intro to Sequential Art for Teens (Cartooning/Comics) Ages 11-17
Day: Wednesdays
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Description: Students will need to bring their own sketch books and drawing pencils/markers to class to learn the basics of character design for the express purpose of creating a story such as a cartoon strip, picture book, or comic strip. This class will include basic figure study and basic drawing suitable for beginners.

Description:
Beginning Illustration for Sequential Art teaches students the basics of drawing and design. A relaxed atmosphere with a published author/artist/instructor focused on students learning basic skill sets and having fun with art. Art classes for ages 10 years and older.
About the Class- Four (2 hour ) sessions from 10am to Noon for students 10years of age or older on Saturdays beginning June 10 to July 1 for learning to design characters and stories for sequential art. Students are asked to bring drawing pencils, sketchbook or pad, and the option of colored pencils, if wanting to do work in colors.

Wanting to know where to start? Have some questions about making your art profitable or at least paying for supplies? Whether you are an artist full time, a newcomer to the art world, a hobbyist, or someone who wants to learn and know more about the BUSINESS of BEING AN ARTIST, then this workshop is for you.
The workshop will assist any creative person in the ART BUSINESS BASICS from setting up your business legally, basic organization for taxes, basic contracts, copyrights vs. trademark vs. patent, and going over an example art exhibit or show set up from start to finish – including a discussion on branding.

Overall discussions may include:
- Basic introductions
- Discuss differences of LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp and how to sign up a business
- Keeping track of receipts and mileage by having a system.
- Copyrights vs. Trademark vs. Patent
- Basic Contract Knowledge
- Branding Conversation as to what to consider as well a moving forward to promote
- Prepping an art event
